Monday Muse: Seven Inspirations for the Week
February in Paris, Living Inside Out, Lasagna Days and Abba Confessions
1/ The book I’ve been reading this week:
Gabrielle Bernstein’s The Universe Has Your Back is a great reminder that we don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone. She teaches that when we trust in the universe, it guides us toward our highest good.
The idea is simple yet profound: the universe responds to the energy, thoughts, and feelings we put out there, which shapes our experiences and our world.
When we project fear or doubt, we tend to find more reasons to feel afraid. But when we choose to believe in love, abundance, and guidance, we open ourselves to receiving just that.
Personally, I’ve found that trusting in the universe’s guidance has been life-changing. Letting go of control and surrendering to something greater has allowed a natural flow to come into my life.
It doesn’t mean every day is perfect, but it does mean that, even in tough times, I can trust there’s a purpose and that I’m being guided.
Gabrielle’s book reminded me that the universe is a co-creator in my journey. When I align my thoughts and feelings with positivity and love, I open the door to endless possibilities, and have found that life often has a way of working out in ways I never imagined or dreamed possible.

2/ What I’m grateful for this week:
It’s been on my bucket list for years to live for a month or so in Paris. I’m not generally a city person, but I love visiting Paris.
Every time I go, I wish I could take time to discover all the smaller galleries and museums, find the picturesque squares that aren’t in guidebooks and the little local restaurants.
Now it’s going to happen! My eldest daughter messaged me a few days ago and said that a friend of hers was renting out his apartment in Paris next February and knowing that it’s something I’ve wanted to do, she thought of me.
I connected with her friend who sent me pictures of a gorgeous studio apartment in the 14th Arrondissement. I said I’d think about it but I already knew that I was going to take it. What a fabulous opportunity.
I messaged him a few hours later to tell him I’d have it for the month.
It’s a bit scary thinking of doing it on my own. I’m just getting used to village life here by myself, and the thought of living in a city for a month is quite daunting, but there’s that little voice inside, that when I trust it and listen to it, is always right and that voice is saying I have to go.
I don’t know what awaits me there, but I’m excited to find out.
3/ My favourite quote this week:
“What lies behind us, and what lies before us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
I’ve noticed in life that many people, me included, tend to focus on the outside. We live life from the outside in.
When in reality we should be living from the inside out. It’s what is inside us that has the power to change our world.
It’s only us that can create the life we want to live, the relationships we want to have, the finances we want and how we want our day-to-day life to look. It’s all within our power to have, be and do all of this, but not if we are looking at what lies behind and what lies before us.
The only way we do it is if we concentrate, and focus all our energies on what lies inside us.
Do you know what it is that is within that holds such great power?
4/ My healthy tip of the week:
It’s that time of year again when I start making my famous lasagna! I say famous as in locally amongst my friends and family ;)
Last night my youngest daughter came for dinner and it was a great success. I usually make a big dish of it and freeze it in portions so I have quick and easy meals when I need them.
Not so much went in the freezer last night though, as a couple of portions went home with my daughter!
So here it is. I make it quite healthy as my main focus is on adding lots of yummy vegetables to it.
I thought it may be more helpful to make it downloadable so you can print it off or save it on your device rather than having to come back to the article. Let me know if you like this idea in the comments and I’ll keep doing it this way :)
5/ This is what I’ve been studying this week:
One day after I’d finished my study this week it just hit me how simple it really is to get exactly what you want in life.
It’s all laid out so well in the book The Science of Getting Rich. This was the book that Rhonda Byrne based the hit movie The Secret on, and look what it did for her! She became a billionaire earlier this year.
I’ve read this book quite a few times, but it’s only since I started my new course with my coach that it’s all falling into place.
It’s all making sense!
And it’s so f**king simple!
However, it may be simple, but it definitely isn’t easy. In fact, it may possibly be one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.
I have to learn the ability to think the way I want to think. That doesn’t sound very hard to do, but it is. You see it’s very easy to think and see things how they are in reality, but all that does for me is get me more of the results that I’m getting right now.
If I want different results I have to train myself to think in a different way. It’s all about what I focus on.
For example, if I was in debt or my bank account was low, if that’s what I focus on, I’ll just get more of the same. As Henry Ford said, “If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got”.
ORDER + FOCUS + VISION (Combined with Action) = RESULTS
So this week I’ve put in place things so that I’m constantly being reminded of how I want to be thinking.
6/ This is what I’ve been listening to on repeat:
I’m going to make a confession, I’m an Abba fan and always have been. I was a fan when it definitely wasn’t cool to be a fan, when I was a teenager. My friend Jill and I used to listen to her stepdad’s Abba records but we didn’t talk about it in school!
This song is one of my favourites and it popped into my head as I was driving back from Toulouse last week, on my way home from the airport.
I love the line, “Something good in everything I see”. I think if I can make that my mantra in life, I will really be able to “cope with anything”. It also fits in with what I’ve been studying these last few weeks. It’s one of the laws of the universe - The Law of Polarity.
