“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” — Viktor E. Frankl
Change can either feel like a fresh breeze or a raging storm. It can feel like the bleakest winter or the most beautiful spring.
Sometimes, we resist it because we want or need stability, but other times, change is just what we need to break free and grow.
This week, I’ve been thinking about the fact that sometimes it’s good to accept change, but sometimes we should stay as we are.
There can be times when we don’t have a choice. Change happens and we have no control over it. That is the hardest type of change to accept.
But as Frankl's quote above says, maybe we can’t control the situation, but we can control how we react to it. We have complete control over our attitude.
Mind: Healing Thoughts
A Quote:
"Change is painful, but nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong." — Mandy Hale
This quote really resonated with me. Sometimes we resist change because it’s uncomfortable and scary, even when we know deep down it’s necessary.
I knew something had to change about my marriage, but I resisted it until the change was forced upon me. Once I accepted the change, my life blossomed in ways I could never have imagined.
Staying in a situation that no longer serves us, whether in relationships, careers, or our own mindset, can be even more painful and damaging in the long run.
What I’m Learning:
I’ve realised that not all change is about action, doing something, sometimes, it’s about mindset and how I think.
We often cling to what’s familiar, even if it’s limiting us, because it feels safe and is our comfort zone. But growth only happens when we are brave enough or are forced to step outside our comfortable spaces.
However, there are also changes that we don’t need to make. We are often told that we should constantly be growing and changing and it is indeed a part of life.
Some things, like meaningful friendships, daily rituals, or places that bring us peace, are worth holding onto.
Learning what to keep and what to let go of, is where the magic happens.
Body: Nourishment for Renewal
Nourishing The Body:
One thing that I like to keep the same? Good, wholesome and healthy food. I’ve been travelling this week which has made it a little challenging sometimes, but I’ve found that because I’m in the habit of looking for healthy options and because I know it’s what’s best for my body, I naturally look for a healthy option if I’m eating out or snacking on the go.
Always choosing a meal with plenty of vegetables added, grabbing some fruit as a snack, and choosing water or herbal tea in a restaurant or bar instead of a less healthy option. It’s simple to do, and a reminder that some things don’t need fixing.
( I have to admit though, as I was in the UK, I did indulge in my favourite crisps and chocolate!)
A Simple Practice:
If change feels overwhelming, start small.
A good idea is to shift little routines, take a different walking route, change up a morning ritual, or even just move things around in the home.
Small changes can help us cope with bigger ones when they come.
Soul: Connection and Reflection
Books to Inspire:
Who Moved My Cheese? by Spencer Johnson
A short but powerful parable about how we deal with change. It’s a simple story about two mice and two little people navigating a maze to find cheese, but it’s packed with deep insights on how resisting or embracing change impacts our happiness and success.
The Synergy Game by Georgia Clare
When my marriage ended, my whole life changed in an instant. But change wasn't just something that happened to me, it was also something I actively chose, embraced, and even sought out. This book explores both kinds of change: the ones we don't ask for and the ones we intentionally pursue. It's my personal story of navigating uncertainty and using powerful tools that helped me to accept, understand, and flourish through every shift. If you're facing changes, big or small, this book offers comfort, guidance, and encouragement, to remind you that change is not just something to endure, but can be an opportunity to thrive. The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer
This book explores how we can free ourselves from the fear of change by surrendering to life’s natural flow. It teaches how to let go of resistance, release inner blocks, and trust that every shift in life is leading us toward growth.
A Meditation:
Change can feel overwhelming, but when we create moments of stillness, we find clarity and a sense of inner peace no matter what’s shifting around us. This meditation is designed to help you embrace the present moment, release resistance, and connect with the steady, unchanging part of yourself.
By tuning into this stillness, you allow change to unfold naturally, without fear or force. Perfect for grounding yourself when life feels uncertain.
You can listen to it here: Finding Stillness Within.
Music That Moves Me:
Landslide by Fleetwood Mac. This song perfectly captures the bittersweet nature of change, and how it can be both painful and necessary.
A Question (or two) for You
Have you ever resisted change, only to later realise it was exactly what you needed?
Or is there something in your life right now that you’re struggling to change?
Let me know. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
See you next week!

Sometimes I wait for pain to be excruciating before change. Sometimes it’s just an internal shift that relieves all troubles.
Sometimes you're nudged, pushed & forced, sometime there's no choice but to change. Deciding on what specifically to change when your pushed?--it's true, not everything. Thank you 🙏🏾
"Man Search for meaning" gave me a different perceptive on change. Great quote.
