I don’t like talking money, but the truth is that as much as I love writing I also need to make a living from it. We all have different financial needs, challenges, and priorities. To help me plan my writing schedule, I offer annual subscriptions, which you might need at a discounted rate. That’s why I am providing a sliding scale for annual subscriptions to my Substack, starting as low as €9 per year. (The price is in € as I live in France but it automatically updates to your currency.) I’ve tried to make it as easy as possible, just choose one of the pre-made options at the end of this post. This option is available online, not in the app. I think!

My annual rate is set at €100 a year, which is just €8.33 a month or €1.92 a week. Although I am fairly new to substack I have been writing (forever!) and studying what I write about for the last 16 years. I am passionate about sharing what helps me and I want to keep doing this. I feel that Substack is a great platform to do this.

I believe everyone should have access to content they value, regardless of financial circumstances. Over the years, I've benefited from sliding scale and pay-what-you-can opportunities, allowing me to enjoy the creativity of others. Now, I want to extend the same opportunity to you, to support my work in a way that suits your budget.

You won't need to explain why you chose a particular rate; just pick what feels right for you. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

• Be Honest About Your Budget: The set price reflects the value of my work and the effort that goes into it. Please consider this as you choose your rate.

• Consider the Value to You: For some, my writing might be worth €100 per year, while for others, €50 or €25 or €9 feels more appropriate. That's perfectly fine. Your expenses should reflect your priorities, and I'd rather you read my work at a rate that suits you than not at all.

• Annual Rates: The subscription is an annual commitment, paid once per year at the rate you choose. This helps me plan my work schedule more effectively.

• Monthly Option: There is a discounted monthly rate available, but it's less beneficial for me due to the unpredictability. I'd prefer you choose an annual rate, even if it's lower, for more consistent support.

• Support Beyond Money: If you're able, supplement your subscription by sharing posts you enjoy, telling others why you subscribed, and mentioning my newsletter in your recommendations.
