You’re Not Broken. You’re Grieving
A gentle guide to using meditation when your heart hurts and your world feels upside down.
Breakups Suck. Meditation Helped Me. Here’s How.
Going through a breakup or divorce?
Same. You’re not alone.
It can feel like your world’s collapsed—grief, confusion, maybe betrayal. Just getting through the day can feel like climbing a mountain with a backpack full of bricks.
What helped me was meditation. Not in a magical, “everything is fine now” way. But in a real, steadying way. It gave me a place to land when everything else felt like quicksand.
Here’s what I’ve learned through the process:
You get to be fully you, even the messy parts.
Meditation doesn’t fix feelings. It gives them space. Sitting with yourself, without distraction, lets you feel your hurt without shoving it down or judging it. It’s uncomfortable, sure. But it’s honest—and that’s where healing starts. You learn to slow the chaos.
Your thoughts might feel like a storm. Meditation doesn’t stop the storm, but it helps you sit in the eye of it. Focusing on your breath—even for a few minutes—calms your body. It reminds you that you can find peace, even in the middle of the mess.It shifts how you see things.
When you're heartbroken, it's hard to see anything clearly. But meditation gives you a bit of distance. It helps you see patterns. Understand your part. Not to blame yourself—but to grow from it. And that’s what moves you forward. It builds real resilience.
Over time, you stop reacting so sharply. You pause more. You get better at sitting with discomfort instead of spiralling. That’s strength—not pretending everything's okay, but learning how to stay steady when it’s not.It helps you rebuild your relationship with yourself.
Heartbreak often comes with self-doubt. Meditation helped me soften that voice. It taught me how to be kinder to myself. That inner kindness matters—it’s what helps you heal without hardening.Your body carries the pain, too.
Ever notice the tension in your shoulders or chest when you're upset? Meditation connects you back to your body. It’s not just emotional healing—it’s physical, too.You start seeing a way forward.
Sometimes in meditation, clarity just pops up. Not always, but when it does, it feels like truth. You start noticing things. Patterns, habits, blind spots. That’s gold. That’s how you start doing things differently next time.
It’s not a quick fix. But it’s a real tool.
This journey is hard. But you’re not stuck. And you’re not broken.
Meditation gave me space to feel, to breathe, and eventually, to hope again. If you’re in the thick of it right now, try giving yourself that space, too.
I’ve put together a podcast, The Synergy Sessions, with meditations that helped me most during heartbreak. They’re simple, real, and come with journal prompts to go deeper if you want to.
