Authentically You, Authentically Me - HOW?! Does it Matter?
Heal Your Mind, Free Your Soul, Relax Your Body
"Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do." — Brené Brown
In a world that often expects us to fit into neat little boxes, choosing to be completely ourselves is an act of bravery and courage.
The world around us often makes us feel that we need to seek approval, whether it’s through our achievements, our appearance, or social norms, but true freedom comes when we are just who we really are, proudly and unapologetically.
The wonderful thing is that when we stop trying to please everyone else and instead show up as our true selves, the right people love us for who we are, not for what we do, have, or how we look.
Living authentically isn’t just a nice idea, it’s essential for our mental, emotional, and even physical health.
Suppressing our true nature creates stress, while self-acceptance builds confidence, deeper relationships, and inner peace.
Mind: Healing Thoughts
A Quote:
"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." — Ralph Waldo Emerson
This is one of my favourite quotes and reminds me that authenticity isn’t just about personal preference, it’s an achievement.
It takes awareness and bravery to strip away the expectations placed upon us and reconnect with who we really are.
What I’m Learning:
I’ve been thinking about how much of our lives we spend trying to fit in.
From early childhood, we’re conditioned to act in ways that will earn approval, from our families, teachers, peers, and society.
But the more we mold ourselves into what we think we should be, the further we drift from our truth.
I used to believe that being loved meant meeting expectations. It took me a very long time to realise that true love, whether from others or ourselves, only exists when we are fully seen for who we really are.
And that means knowing ourselves first. It’s impossible to be authentic if we don’t take the time to understand what we truly want, need, and believe. (I’ve dedicated a whole section of my website to this topic with lots of resources and tips on how to do it.)
Once we do, life becomes so much richer because not only are we being true to ourselves, but the people who love us do so because they see the real us, not some version of who we think they will like. It’s the most liberating feeling.
Body: Nourishment for Renewal
Nourishing The Body:
When we show up as our real selves, we naturally start to care for ourselves in a more authentic way.
Instead of following trends or external rules, we make choices that truly nourish us.
This week, focus on tuning into what your body really needs, whether it’s rest, movement, fresh air, or simply better hydration.
One small but powerful practice: Before you eat a meal, take a deep breath and ask yourself, What does my body truly need right now? Then, listen.
This simple pause can shift us away from eating out of habit or stress and toward choices that genuinely support our well-being.
A Simple Practice:
Journaling is one of the most powerful ways to reconnect with yourself. If you don’t know where to start, ask yourself:
When do I feel most like myself?
What am I pretending to enjoy that I actually don’t?
If I didn’t care what anyone thought, how would my life look different?
Authenticity starts with self-awareness, and writing can help bring clarity to the thoughts and emotions that often go unthought and unspoken.

Music That Moves Me:
A song that reminds me to trust my own path, follow what feels right, and value the freedom of being myself.
Authenticity isn’t about being perfect, it’s about being real.
It’s about showing up fully, even when it’s messy, even when it’s uncomfortable.
The more we align with our truth, the more peace, freedom, and connection we find.
How did you become more authentically you? Let me know, I’d love to hear.
See you next week!
