Beautiful, inspirational post, Georgia. I happen to be a huge fan of Viktor Frankl's amazing Man's Search for Meaning. It's true that although we can't control life circumstances, we can control how we react (easier said than done, I think).
Sounds like you have a great family. I am divorced, and it took awhile to adapt to being on my own. It was a huge identity shift. But eventually we learn to heal.

You're right, it's a huge shift. For quite a while I really didn't know who I was. I had been married for 34 years and had to completely reinvent myself as me, not a wife and partner. I think I'm still doing that.

You are right about divorce. I really thought that it would be the closure and finality I wanted and needed, but it’s felt completely different than that. It’s not what I expected. But then it’s such a huge thing, how could anyone know what to expect?!

Divorce is so strange. From my experience and talking with others, it usually goes in a completely different way than you expect.
